I grew up in Seattle, WA and moved to California to attend college. I
graduated from the University of San Diego in 1991 with a BA in Liberal Arts
and my California Teaching Credential. I taught first grade for 3 years and
then fourth grade for 3 years, all in Catholic schools. I have been married
to Ray for 17 years and he is a firefighter with the Chula Vista Fire
Department. We have 4 children, 2 boys and 2 girls, Ray(14), Courtney(13),
Isabella(10) and Colman(8). I stayed home with my kids for 12 years before I
came here to St. James. But over that time, I was a substitute teacher for
many grades in several different Dioceses. I have always loved teaching in a
Catholic school because of the opportunity to teach the whole child. As a
teacher, I have the privilege of watching their academic, social and
spiritual growth. It is such a blessing and reward to know that I get to be
a part of that. This fall I will begin my second year in the Master in
Education Administration program at CSU San Marcos. I am excited about this
path and anxious to share my experiences with St. James Academy.
I love spending time with family and friends, going to the movies,
working in the yard, watching my kids play sports, and eating CHOCOLATE!
My goal as a teacher is to make a difference in the lives of the children I
teach by inspiring, motivating and encouraging learning in the classroom. I
have always been inspired by the following quote by Dr. Ernest Melby:
"One of the most important things a teacher can do is send pupils home in the
afternoon liking themselves just a little better than when they came in the
morning."
