Ms. Reilly loves teaching at Santa Ynez Valley Charter School! She has lived
in the Valley for many years and helped start and plan the school while
working on her teaching credential at Chapman University. Before that, she
had her own preschool, Tree's House, where some of her students used to go
when they were little. She worked as a student teacher and substitute
teacher at many schools in the area before working at Jonata School for
three years. This is her 8th year at SYVCS. Her favorite subjects are Math,
Language Arts, Science (especially experiments) and all kinds of Art.
She has three children: Edelweiss just graduated from Soka University, Dante
is attending Santa Barbara City College and Alexander is a senior at Santa
Ynez High School. Her favorite hobbies are dance, music, art, reading,
writing, and hiking. Someday, she'd like to travel the world and write a book
or two, but for now, teaching and continuing to learn are her passions.
The primary mission for the class is that each student feels confident in
his or her individual skills and talents, is excited to learn new things and
be creative, and develops respect for themselves and others. Academic
achievement is promoted both by challenging students to do their best and
by supporting students in whatever area they need help. Thematic, hands-on,
student-centered approaches are emphasized. We work hard, enjoy being
creative, and celebrate our successes!
