Behavior Reports

Behavior Reports are sent home on Friday to let you know how your child is behaving in class as well as a report of his or her work habits.  These should be signed and returned on Monday.

Some situations are serious enough that students need additional consequences.  These situations may include using hurtful words, unwanted touching or rough play, infractions of playground rules,  and dishonesty of any kind among others.

Students will complete a “Think About It Sheet” which requires students to think about their behavior and the consequences, and to generate ideas for better choices to the behavior.

These sheets will go home for Parent Signature and are expected back the next day.

Students with ongoing behavior problems may be put on a daily contract and report.

Make Up Work

Students are expected to correct all errors on daily work, homework, and tests.

Any student who scores less than 70% will get credit for fixing errors in one try – up to 70%.

Missing work must be made up.  A contract will go home.  If, the end of the contract, a student does not complete the work, the score is “0”. The maximum grade allowed for contract work is 75%.

Missing homework must be made up prior to playing, the day it is due.

Absent students have the following weekend to complete make – up work

Students are expected to do neat and careful work.  Rushed, sloppy, or incomplete work will need to be redone to grade level expectations or to the student’s personal best.

Grade Reporting

You should receive a grade report update twice a month, if I have an e-mail address for you. This includes a list of all graded assignments and tests and the scores.

Progress Reports will go out for students who are not meeting standards as of the half -way point each trimester.

Formal Report Cards will go out every Trimester.

Organizational Skills

Students are expected to maintain an organized binder.  It must be kept neat and orderly.  Please check it each night and remove things from the  “Keep at Home” folder.

Students are expected to record homework and get it checked by an adult each night.

Students with ongoing organizational difficulties may be put on a Daily Checkout.

Parties and Birthdays

We will have a party at Halloween, Winter Break, Valentine’s Day, and the Last Day.

Birthdays will be recognized in class.  We will have a simple recognition by classmates and teacher.  Children will be made to feel special on their special day.

If you would like to send treats, please keep it very simple. Cookies, cupcakes, and doughnuts are always good. Please avoid anything with nuts and try to keep all the treats the same. We cannot accomodate cakes, ice cream, drinks, or party favors.
