FAQFrequently Asked Questions: This page contains answers to common questions of students and parents.
Where does ALL late work get turned in? ALL late work gets turned into the "IN" basket. I then go through the basket and check off any late assignments. Please make sure to check the board to see if you owe any assignments. Also, a good system to use is to check off your HW assignments in your planner as you complete them. By doing this, you are giving yourself another means of keeping track of your completed assignments. The "AM" bin receives any paperwork that needs returning such as: 1) Fliers 2) Book Orders 3) Notes 4) Signed Paperwork 5) Permission Slips What is the policy regarding HW and making up missed assignments?
I was absent...how do I find out what I missed and my HW? Your elbow partner should have filled out an absence report form for you. That, along with checking the HW hotline (771-1810, 9, ext. 116) and my HW whiteboard near the door, should fill you in on what you missed. Any paperwork that was passed out and not put into the absence folder can be found in the file folders on the side counter. Late HW is due by Friday of that week UNLESS I have made an exception for you. Reading Counts is a reading program which provides you with a list of books targeted at your reading level. The Scholastic Reading Inventory (SRI) test you took scored the answers you choose and assigned you a lexile reading level. Based upon your lexile reading score, Reading Counts provides you with a list of books at your lexile reading level and slightly above, thus offering you opportunities to read more challenging books. When you are done with a reading counts book, you then take a quiz on that book testing your knowledge and comprehension of the text. Based upon your answers, you will then be assigned a quiz score or points. Your goal each trimester is to try to get 200 points a trimester. Happy reading - you can do it!!!!! Accelerated Math is a new program this year. It is designed around 6th grade math standards is intended to give you further support and practice in acheiving the standards for each chapter. Each week you will take accelerated math (ACM) practices based upon YOUR learning needs. These practices will offer you a chance to diagnose your strengths and weaknesses as well as provide you further review with previously taught concepts. |
