Dear Parents,

I update Thinkwave every Friday, so if your child has a make up assignment I
will usually plug it in on the Friday after they have corrected the assignment
or made it up. If I am out during the week one day the gradebook will most
likely be updated during the weekend.

If you have any questions about the gradebook please email me.

Remember if you would like to speak with me about anything please email me
to set up an appointment. I have meetings after school on most days. The
end of the day is very hectic getting the kids ready to go home, so it
is difficult meeting with parents and students at the end of the day with no
set time. Also, an appointment helps me get better prepared with any
appropriate materials. If you call my voicemail I most likely will not get
it for some time, so better to email me. Thank you for your understanding!

Common Questions regarding grades:

Q: How much time does my child have to turn in a missing assignment before
it turns into a zero in the grade book?

A: The students have one week to turn in any missing work from the day the
assignment was due before it turns into a zero.

Q: Why is my child's score so low?

A: It is still early in the trimester, so the amount of assignments entered
are very few still in some subject areas (math, social studies). The more
grades entered the better chance your child's grade will raise.

A: Remember that all tests and quizes are worth 60% of your child's overall
grade. All year they have the chance to correct and return ANY quiz or test
for a score of 70%. I pass back papers every Friday, so if you have not seen
any corrected papers then you need to question your child as to where those
assignments are.

Q: My child said they turned that assignment in, so why does it say it is
missing?

A: Starting second trimester I throw away no name papers. Even though
before each assignment I tell them that the first thing they need to do is
write their name on their paper.

Q: My child is missing vocabulary and/or spelling assignments, so where can
they get the words to complete the assignment again?

A: I have a master list of all the vocabulary and spelling words in the
classroom for them to get these from. It is been communicated with them
all year where these words are available for them, and that they are
responsible for getting these on their own.

I hope that these have answered your questions. If not you can email me at
my school email address, and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

Thanks again!
