SCHOOLWIDE LEARNING EXPECTATIONS

1. A faith-filled, active Catholic who:
Ø celebrates faith through prayer, sacraments, Christian service, words, and actions.
Ø understands and participates in the teachings and traditions of the Catholic faith.
Ø strives to build a moral conscience, enabling him/her to make decisions based on Catholic values.
Ø uses Scripture as a guide in his/her personal journey of faith.
A Primary Student (grades JK–2) who is a faith-filled, active Catholic:
Ø masters required prayers and uses them in his/her daily life.
Ø prays reverently and participates during Mass.
Ø demonstrates respect toward others.
2. A life-long learner who:
Ø sets realistic goals, recognizes his/her personal learning style, and is self-motivated.
Ø utilizes technology competently and responsibly to facilitate learning, research, and growth.
Ø values a quality education.
Ø develops critical thinking skills to solve problems.
A Primary Student (grades JK–2) who is a life-long learner:
Ø informally and formally assesses his/her own learning.
Ø applies simple technology skills to support learning.
Ø reads, understands and responds to scripture.
3. An effective communicator who:
Ø articulates ideas clearly and creatively through writing and speaking.
Ø listens actively and responds appropriately to communication.
Ø expresses opinions compassionately, appropriately and respectfully.
A Primary Student (grades JK–2) who is an effective communicator:
Ø participates in class discussions.
Ø expresses ideas clearly in writing.
Ø respectfully listens to the opinions of others.
4. A responsible citizen who:
Ø exhibits respect, integrity, and empathy.
Ø supports and participates in community activities.
Ø respects the value of all life through Christian stewardship.
A Primary Student (grades JK–2) who is a responsible citizen:
Ø demonstrates good sportsmanship in the classroom.
Ø participates in Christian service.
Ø prays for others.
5. A quality producer who:
Ø develops and utilizes his/her God-given talents.
Ø uses organizational skills and manages time effectively.
Ø works independently or collaboratively.
A Primary Student (grades K–2) who is a quality producer:
Ø displays simple time management skills.
Ø uses his/her God-given talents.
Ø responsibly completes assignments..
6. An integrated individual who:
Ø understands the importance of making healthy choices.
Ø Accepts responsibility for one’s decisions and actions
Ø develops self-confidence and leadership qualities.
Ø applies conflict resolution skills.
A Primary Student (grades JK–2) who is an integrated individual:
Ø follows school rules and engages regularly in safe and healthy physical activities.
Ø demonstrates positive leadership and good choices.
Ø treats others in a Christian-like manner.
