Hot Tips of the Day
On the first day of school, please send a Ziploc bag labeled with your son's name containing a fresh change of clothing, including underwear, socks, uniform bottoms and top.
Each day, please send a regular sized backpack, healthy snack, thermos of water, and Homework Folder to school.
Each week, you will get a Family Folder packed with important information. Please read through the same day your son brings it home. Sign the front to acknowledge that you read and are aware of all the items in the Folder, and direct your son to return it to school the next morning.
Each night, prompt your son to help him remember to tell you what he did in school. Be specific; "What did you do with a crayon today?" "What did you do with a ball today?" etc.. Developing a working memory is a critical academic skill, and this is the easiest and most logical way to start. Read the daily email so you know ahead of time what your son did, so that you can give him more prompting if necessary.
Each night, please read the daily email because I often pose questions for parents than necessitate a response.
Read aloud to your son every single night to help him become a reader.
I am unavailable by phone or in-person conference between the hours of 6am-2pm. However, please email to schedule a conference between 2-5pm Monday through Thursday.
Please do not compare your son or his work to other students in kindergarten; we are a differentiated school so each student works at his level to improve from there. That means that some students will do different work or homework; this is normal and we are all working together to make sure that all our students move to standards or beyond. All students are intelligent and teachable, so do not compare your son to anybody else, for your and his sake.
Gradelink provides information on each assignment listed, so review the website and the weekly work that comes home each Monday. If you feel we should meet about your son's work, please email to schedule a conference.
