Ms. Soto

Hello and welcome to another new and exciting school year!

I feel very blessed and fortunate to be a part of the St. Columban school
community. This is my eighth year teaching at the junior high level. I
feel very lucky to say that I thoroughly enjoy what I do. I was born and
raised in southern California. I graduated from Pacifica High School in
1999. From there I moved to Eastern Kentucky University and earned my
Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 2003. I believe in the importance of
education and think that there is always more to learn. In May 2009, I
graduated with a Master’s Degree in Education from Cal State University,
Fullerton.

Outside of the classroom I enjoy time with my family and friends. I enjoy
the sunshine and spending time at the beach. This summer I discovererd a new
hobby, Stand Up Paddleboarding and I love it! I try to staying active
through various types of workouts during the week. I also love reading,
watching movies, listening to live music, camping with my family,
coaching/playing softball, and supporting Angels Baseball!

Since I can remember, I have always wanted to be a teacher. I understand
that the junior high years can be a challenging time for young adolescents.
As a junior high teacher, I am committed to assisting them to grow
spiritually, academically and socially. It is one of my greatest priorities
to present each student with an understanding of the importance of faith in
EVERY aspect of life.

Academically, I strive to expand their minds, increase their knowledge,
strengthen their skills, and boost their confidence in all that they do. I
see potential in every child. I am dedicated to create a learning
environment that allows all children to thrive and learn. I hope to inspire
my students to truly believe that they can make a difference in this world.
I teach my students that they are children of God and can use their gifts to
bring goodness to this world. I want my students to be excited about
learning and hope to help them to grow to be Faith-filled Catholics and Life-
Long Learners.

I am excited for the school year ahead. I look forward to making this a
successful and enjoyable year for us all.
