About the teacher

I was raised in San Francisco and had received my teaching credential from
San Francisco College for Women. My experience, covering most grade levels,
includes teaching in San Bruno as well as in Marin County. Since 1980, I
have been at St. Isabella School as a fourth grade teacher, a Vice-
Principal ,and currently, as a resource teacher for grades five through
eight.

mission for the class

It is my goal that all students recognize and be proud of their
gifts/talents as well as understanding/accepting their weak areas. I want
them to utilize strategies making them a part of their everyday life thus
striving to become successsful, confident, and independent learners.

In conjunction with being confident learners, I want my students to believe
in themselves, to be positive, and to set realistic goals, to be aware and
appreciate the various learning styles not only their style but also of
other students in their class and, to use various strategies to enable them
to focus/listen better.

Students are helped in the classroom, on a one-to-one basis, and/or in
small groups. I am in close communication not only with students but with
teachers and parents all working towards the same goal...for the student to
become self-confident,successful,and independent.

If the need arises, a Student Study Team is put in place reviewing
strenghts, concerns, possible testing results as well as a action plan to
expand the student's capabilites thereby maximizing their potential.

I am also available to assist teachers and parents with various
strategies /learning styles, current educational ideas, dates of up-coming
workshops/speakers, as well as doing some preliminary testing (Burns-
Roe/reading,Conners'Rating Scale/ADD/ADHD,Let-II/Auditory-Visual Memory, and
the Brigance/skill based test).

St. Isabella School is a member of the Parent Education Network and the
International Dyslexia Association. We frequently attend meetings sponsored
by the Archdiocese of San Francisco which includes the Maureen Huntington
and all the schools in Marin County,San Francisco, and on the Peninsula.
