How may I find out if my child has overdue books or fines?
A notice goes home each week to any child with an overdue or fine.
When can my child come to the library to take a quiz or check-in/out books?
Students may take quizzes, check-in/out books at 7:20 am, recess, lunch and during their scheduled
class times. Please click "Library Schedule" for complete listing. The library is open Friday, from
7:20 am - 8:00 am.
How can I find out what books are Accelerated Reader books?
Please click "Accelerated Quiz List Link." If you still have questions, please email me.
May my child read books from another library or my home and take AR quizzes?
Yes, as long as they are on our Accelerated Quiz List. The local public libraries are very helpful when
you need to find AR books. Remember to use a computer at the library to look up the titles on the
St. Juliana Library website.
Can my child use audio books?
Yes, some students do better with an audio book. I do recommend that the child has a book to read
along with. When the child reads along with the book, it helps with word recognition.
Does my child have to read a certain book level?
We use the Accelerated Reading Program as an enhancement to our curriculum. Students should not
be reading lower than 2 levels of their current grade (5th grade should not be lower than 3.0 BL.) We
would like parents to focus on the Interest Level-IL. The IL is based on content, and its
appropriateness for each child. Lower Grade-LG=K,1,2,3 and Middle Grade-MG=3,4,5,6 AND
Middle Grade Plus-MG+ 6,7,8 AND Upper Grade-UG=7-8-9-10.
How do I know how many points my child has?
AR points will be posted weekly on Gradelink. My goal is to have points posted by Sunday each week.
When a quiz is passed the student also receives a TOPS Report with the passed quiz information.
This report does not print if a child does not pass.
My child earned an additional 5 points this quarter, do AR Points rollover from each quarter?
AR Points rollover from quarter to quarter in 6th, 7th and 8th grades. They do not rollover from year
to year. If you child has rolled over points it will be in Gradelink, I have applied any additional points
to the next quarter.
