Rules and Expectations

Students are expected to follow all rules, regulations, and procedures outlined in the SMS Handbook.

In addition, the following expectations are expected to be followed in order to have an effective learning environment in our classroom.

  1. Students are always expected to be in class on time and prepared to work.
  2. Students are expected to walk into class quietly, politely, and respectfully.
  3. Students are expected to be in their seat ready to work when the bell rings.
  4. Students are expected to check the board for instructions upon entering the classroom.
  5. Students are expected to fill out their agenda each day before leaving.
  6. Students are expected to work quietly throughout the day.
  7. Students are expected to raise their hand when they have a question and to wait quietly to be called on.
  8. Students are expected to listen silently when someone is talking.
  9. Students are expected to always be respectful towards others, with the property of others, and towards school property.
  10. Students are expected to read quietly or work on homework if they finish an assignment early.
  11. Students are expected to wait for permission from the teacher before leaving their seat.
  12. Students are expected to turn in all work on time and properly headed.
  13. Students are expected to sharpen pencils before the morning bell.
  14. Students are expected to use the restroom at recess and lunch, not during class time. This is reserved for emergencies only.
  15. Students are expected to not chew gum or eat in the classroom.
  16. Students are expected to not have a cell phone, IPOD, or other electronic device on their person or in their desk.  This includes lasers of any kind.
  17. Students are expected to not write or pass notes during class.
