English 7th Grade

Textbook: World of Language Level 7 published by Silver Burdett Ginn

In addition to daily Grammar Lessons, students will be assigned a monthly Writing Project.

For the writing projects we will use the Writing Process.

ü Prewriting – brainstorm; choose a topic; gather and organize ideas; identify audience; identify the purpose; choose appropriate format for the writing.

ü Drafting – write a rough draft to get down ideas; emphasize ideas rather than mechanics

ü Editing – peer edit; identify ways to make your rough draft better

ü Revision - reflect on comments from peer edit and make changes; prepare a clean draft to turn in for a grade

ü Publishing – project will be made into a class book

Sample writing projects

ü Autobiography/Biography

ü Short Story

ü Standard Essay

ü Personal Narrative

ü Persuasive Essay

ü Research Report

ü Poetry

Writing projects will generally be due the last week of the month. When projects are turned in they must include all papers related to the final product including items such as: brainstorms, graphic organizers, webs, rough drafts (showing editing marks), revised copies (showing editing marks), grading rubric, etc. Students should have a writing folder to keep all their work neat and organzied.
