Dear Parents,
Congratulations on your child’s First Holy Communion! I am so proud of them as they carried themselves so reverently through the beautiful ceremony. They are definitely committed to their faith. It was a privilege for me to be a part of their special celebration. Also, thank you for your love and support of them, in making this celebration so meaningful.
The Jog-A-Thon was a lot of fun and a huge success! The students had such great spirit. So thank you for your contribution to its success. Just remember that money is due this Friday to be counted towards the prizes.
May 30th is the school wide May Crowning in the church at 10:00 a.m. For this occasion, the second graders participate by coming in their First Communion attire and they sing their First Communion song. Please send your child’s first communion outfit to school with them on Wednesday morning. At 9:30, the students will begin to change into their First Communion clothes. I will need parents to help with this please. Then at about 10:45 the students will need some help changing back into school uniforms. Any flowers you can contribute to the service would be appreciated. They can be brought to the Kindergarten class in the morning.
Our last Scholastic book orders are due, May 16th. This way we will be assured of delivery before school is out in June. Stock up for summer reading!
As you may have noticed, we are finished with the spelling book we have been using all year. We will however, still be having weekly spelling words and tests. The words and worksheets will come home in your child’s homework folder. Please keep an eye out for them.
It may seem like the end of the school year is near, but we still have many things to do and learn in second grade. Remember, it is still important as ever to be reading nightly and practicing with the math flashcards.
Blessings of thanksgiving,
Mrs. Waples

Dear Parents,
Thank you for your enthusiasm and participation in the First Holy Communion Retreat. It was such a pleasure to share with the children as they were most interested in hearing and doing everything. I am proud of the Second Graders! You are obviously doing wonderful things at home with them too.
The Jog-A-Thon is this Friday. The second grade class color is yellow. So as a class, we are going to wear our “Apple Store” t-shirts that we were given on the field trip. We will make a strong united front on the Friday!
We will be continuing the Lauren Ashley Herrera memorial tradition during this month, May. Enclosed in this Tuesday envelope is our class schedule for when a student is assigned the opportunity to bring home the Marion statue and C.D. of the rosary. I am asking that you and your child pray the rosary together the night your child brings the statue and C.D. home. They must be returned the following morning. If they are not returned the following day, the families that follow you will be off schedule. Only the oldest child in a family is on the schedule. The other students in the class should pray with the family when it comes home with an older sibling.
Just because we love Flat Stanley so much, I would also like to do a ceramic project with the class. This activity however, will cost $2.00/student to cover the cost of the special paint, clay and firing process. Could you please send this in a marked envelope so we can proceed with this enriching activity? The Flat Stanley each student makes will become a fond memory of our great pal!

Just a few reminders:
…..Keep collecting those Jog-a-thon pledges
…..continue working on the “secret letter” for the prayer service on May 4th
…..see all of you at the prayer service at 1:45 in the church
…….Last call today for reserving a video of 1st Communion
In His Love,
Mrs. Waples
