Language Arts
On Monday the students will be placed into group to read a book together and
discuss the setting, characters, problem and important events in the book.
Then, the students will write a book report.
Math
This week’s lessons will build upon earlier measurement lessons by introducing
new units, such as half inch, yard, gallon, ounce, meter, and gram.
Social Studies
On Monday we will continue our unit: (People Make a Difference). The students
identify the contributions of Abraham Lincoln, Sitting Bull, Dr. Martin Luther
King, Jr., and Jackie Robinson.
Science
Our focus in this week is sound. The lesson this week, the students explains
what causes the volume of a sound to be loud or soft and distinguish between
pitch and volume.
Religion
Our focus this week is new life in our Family Life books. By the end of this
chapter your child will be able to: 1) realize how a family grows and changes
with the addition of a new child, 2) appreciate the gifts that parents give
their children and 3) identify some new ways for sharing love with others.

2. Wednesday, May 21, 2008 – May Procession (2nd Grade - First Communion
outfits) & Picture Day
3. Thursday, May 22, 2008 – Penpal Picnic
4. Friday, May 23, 2008 – Spelling Test.
5. Monday, May 26, 2008 - Holiday
