Message from the Principal
Sun View Continues to Shine!
It is with tremendous enthusiasm that we welcome the 2011-2012 school year with renewed excitement and anticipation that always seems to accompany the start of a new year.
The 2011-12 school year promises to be filled with powerful learning activities designed to provide an enriching and successful school experience for all students. We were greeted with good news regarding improved state test scores. Specifically, our Academic Performance Index (API) increased from 753 to 820 over a two year period 2009 - 2011! Congratulations Sun View! We look forward to doubling our efforts and increasing student outcomes.
I am pleased to announce the wonderful addition of two new staff members who will assist with ongoing efforts of providing a quality education for our most cherished students. Specifically, new to Sun View this year will be second grade teacher, Sarah Boggess and Title 1 teacher, Julie Franz. I know you will be absolutely delighted with these new additions to our dynamic team of teachers!
As the new school year gets underway, we continue to focus on differentiated instruction, English Language Development, Response to Intervention/Instruction and Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBI).
Our school logo reflects Sun View’s three significant behavioral expectations: Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe! The logo is produced on banners, school tee shirts, and a school-wide mural reflecting our commitment to a safe and successful school experience.

Patriotic / Flag Assemblies
Please stop by every Friday morning at 8:00 a.m. and join the students and staff of Sun View Elementary School gather for their special assembly to honor our flag, show our patriotism to our country, and show our school spirit. The flag salute is led by our kid council officers, facts about our country and flag are presented, school announcements are made, and a patriotic song is led by all of our Sun View students. We look forward to seeing you there!
