About The Teacher

From an early age, I’ve known that I was called to be a teacher. I am so
thankful for the opportunity to shape young minds and encourage a lifelong
love of learning. There’s never a dull moment in Room 5 and I appreciate
how my class and I work together in an exciting learning environment. As I
strive to inspire children, I find that they equally inspire me! This is my
sixth year teaching within the Conejo Valley Unified School District.
Working with children has been a very rewarding experience for me and I feel
fortunate to teach in such a great area!

I was born and raised in Fresno, CA. I left the Central Valley to attend
college at California Lutheran University. From the moment that I arrived
here in Thousand Oaks, I knew Ventura County would be a great place to call
home! I majored in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Morality and
Ethics. I graduated in 2003, but the joy of learning keeps me coming back
as a student! I recently finished my Masters in Education with a K-12
Reading Certificate. My thesis involved using the Question-Answer
Relationship (QAR) strategy to improve 3rd graders reading comprehension of
nonfiction text.

When I’m not in a classroom, one of my favorite things to do is travel. I
love meeting new people, experiencing new cultures, as well as learning
about the historical significance of places. Another important part of my
life is being involved in my congregation at Ascension Lutheran Church. I
also enjoy the performing arts, whether it is watching a performance, going
to a movie, or taking dance classes.

I look forward to getting to know you as the year progresses. It's going to
be a fantastic school year!
