This is my fifth year at Sycamore Canyon. I am a graduate of Cal State
University, Northridge. I have a masters in education in addition to a
social science credential. I taught with LAUSD for five years at both
Mulholland Middle School in Van Nuys, CA and Millikan Performing Arts Magnet
in Sherman Oaks, CA. I was responsible for teaching the honors social
studies program and supported a mentor program as well. I have traveled to
China, Morocco, Cuba, Europe, Mexico and other destinations which helps to
bring real time experiences to the history classroom. The teaching
profession is always challenging and exciting; I look forward to a great
year of discovery.
My teaching mission is to inspire students to be open-minded, self-
reflective and adaptable learners. I pledge to find meaningful ways to
present the social studies curriculum in order to challenge, interest, and
also entertain students. My goal is to encourage their natural
inquisitiveness and develop it into an educational tool through the use of
technology, reflective teaching and active learning. This supportive
learning environment that cultivates collaborative skills, higher-level
thinking processes, independent learning, and the ability to adapt to an
ever-changing world will also foster appreciation for multicultural points
of view. I affirm my support and attention in order to help students
develop the cognitive and social skills necessary to direct their personal
academic achievement and become enthusiastic life-long learners.
