Health Week
March 19th - 23rd
Monday
·Walk or park and walk to school day! Every child who walks will be greeted and rewarded with a special thank you for doing something good for their body. Our own Coach Lou will be leading our morning broadcast to give us some healthy tips to start our day.
·During lunch recess we will be running laps to build our lung and heart health. With each lap run or walked the children will get tally marks on a popsicle stick to show off later that day at home.
·Today every child will also be getting a magnifying glass to look for the health tips and clues left around school. Hint hint- look for the giant paper people and the little hand prints.
Tuesday
·We have health speakers coming to talk to all grade levels about how and why we need to be safe and healthy. Every child will be receiving tooth brushes that were donated by local dentists to replace their old ones at home.
·During lunch recess we will be keeping up the healthy activities by dancing our little hearts out.
Wednesday
·We are having a energetic musical assembly entitled "I'm Taking Care of Me".
·For lunch recess fun we will be hula hooping and jump roping until we can't anymore.
Thursday
·In class every child will make a personal health pledge on a paper flower petal so together we can make a giant Tesoro garden for health in the MPR. The "Jump Bunch" will be here to provide a fun-filled lunch recess exercise experience for all the children.
Friday
·Every child is asked to wear their grade level color to enhance the understanding that if we eat foods that are naturally the colors of the rainbow they are usually better for our bodies.
·Back by popular demand it's"freeze dance"! We are taking the favorite lunch time activity from last year and rapping up our week at lunch recess with more dancing.
·We are also carrying on the tradition of caring for other's health too by making colorful bookmarks that we will donate to Children's Hospital.
*All week remember to pack healthy snacks and lunches and make healthy choices at the cafeteria. Everyone who does will get a fun sticker.
