Jackie Robinson's Nine Values to Live By

When Jackie Robinson became an adult, he thought about how he wanted to live
his life. He thought about how he wanted to be treated, and how he wanted
to treat others. He came up with nine values to guide his life. I can't
think of a more appropriate way to express how I envision a classroom
environment. These are Jackie's values to live by:

CITIZENSHIP
Do good works to help others improve their lives.

COMMITMENT
If you make a promise to do something, be sure to keep your promise.

COURAGE
Do what you believe is the right thing, no matter how hard it may be.

DETERMINATION
Have a goal in mind and stick to it.

EXCELLENCE
Do your best at everything you try.

INTEGRITY
Be true to your values and what you believe.

JUSTICE
Be fair to all people.

PERSISTENCE
Don't give up on reaching your goals.

TEAMWORK
Work well with others and cooperate to reach a goal you all share.
