ASL 1 & 2
Important Announcements !!!
*******************************************************************************************************
- As I use sign language daily, it is normal for you to not understand everything. Relax, be patient & trust yourself.... in time....you WILL catch on and understand more & more :)
- You must practice & study all information daily! Learning a language builds on previous content, therefore STUDY & PRACTICE!
- ALWAYS maintain communication with Mrs. Dawson!!! She can't help & support your needs if you do not communicate with her!
- Actively read, use & follow the course syllabus, & class policies handouts as a resource regarding class requirements, expectations, absence policies & procedures, & MUCH MORE!
- If absent - follow the absence policy. Log on teacherweb, view daily agenda & homework to make up missed work. If needed, make sure you SIGN UP for a test, quiz, etc if absent. SIGN UP info on podium according to class, make up topic, date & time for make up.
- Log on to Mrs. Dawson's "teacherweb" site daily!!! (announcements, class notes/handouts, class info, daily agenda, homework, tests, quizes, Deaf events, links to assignments, ASL club, etc)
- You are responsible to follow up & take care of anything you missed!
- ASL 1 students - NEED A TUTOR? Sign up in class & attend ASL Club for arrangements!
- ASL 2 students - WANT TO TUTOR? Sign up in class & attend ASL Club for arrangements!
- Actively participate in the American Sign Language Club! Every Friday @ lunch in G7! All are welcome. Bring you lunch! Bring a friend!
- Keep a "running vocabulary list" of all new signs learned throughout the class.
- Always study your class notes & practice signing your vocabulary daily!
- You never know if you're going to have a quiz or a test :)
- A ...GLOSS is a writing system that represents a sign in ASL. It is used for teaching & learning purposes only. Therefore, all receptive tests & quizes must be written in proper form (GLOSS).
- For extra credit opportunities (only available when offered), check the bulletin board in class daily!
- Take time to look at each bulletin board in class, it will help you!
- When turning in homework, wait until it is collected. It is not necessary to individually submit your homework before class starts. If absent, write "absent" in the upper left corner of your assignment with the date(s) you were absent, then leave it on Mrs. Dawson's desk.
- Any grade check slips, green activity slips, etc for Mrs. Dawson to sign, place them in the appropriate box on Mrs. Dawson's desk before class starts. Then, pick them up before you leave class.
!!! HAPPY SIGNING !!!
