Role4

Human Right's Activist

Diamonds are brought into our society through the work, joy, and suffering of
human beings. People have been effected in both positive and negative ways
because of the industrial need and cultural desire for the different kinds of
diamonds produced by nature. Answer the following questions to guide your
research for The United Nations Sustainable Diamond Plan:

How are diamonds formed?
Where are diamonds found geologically?
Where are diamonds found geographically?
What are the positive effects of the diamond industry on people? What groups
experience the positive effects?
What are the negative effects of the diamond industry on people? What groups
experience the negative effects?
What are conflict diamonds?
What countries have conflict diamond problems?

Use complete sentences and restate the question in your answer. After
answering these questions prepare an opinion statement for the UN
Sustainable Diamond Plan. Your statement must:

-be convincing
-be at least three paragraphs
-have no spelling or grammar errors
-be written from the perspective of your role
-address the question: "Given my role and what I know, what would I want to
see in a Sustainable World Diamond Plan?"
-be backed up by your research

Most importantly, the statement should educate other members of the UN
Diamond Team about your perspective on Diamonds. You will read this opinion
statement to other representatives at the United Nations Diamond Meeting.

The internet resources listed below will help you in your research.
