Monthly Project small medium large Book Jacket Project: Due June 1st Pick out your favorite summer read! You will be designing a new jacket so that everyone can see what is your favorite book. The format you must use is as follows: Front cover: Contains Book title and author. Illustration of main character/setting/ or main idea is neat and colored Inside front cover: Summary of main plot is well written. Contains 3 paragraphs for beginning, middle, and end. Inside back cover: Shows the 5 stars rating clearly. Well-written review (paragraph form). Contains three reasons for like or dislike of book. Back cover: choose five new vocabulary words from the book. Story sentence is written and page number documented. Correct definition from dictionary. Overall appearance: The book jacket is neat, colorful, measured correctly, and easily read. Spelling does count! You can cut and paste from a type written piece or do your final product in ink. Remember: This is your final project for the year. You get to choose the book. We will have a sharing day the first week of June and have people vote on the best jacket. Cover 15 points Contains Book title and author. Illustration is neat and colored. 12 Missing a title or author name. Illustration is neat. 9 Missing a title or author name. Illustration is messy. 4 Missing two or more parts to the cover. 0 Nothing on the cover. __________ Summary Inside front flap 25 points Summary is well written. Contains 3 paragraphs for beginning, middle, and end. 19 Summary is written poorly but has things from the beginning, the middle, and the end. 13 Summary is written poorly and is missing one part. 7 Summary is missing two or more parts. 0 There is no summary written. Book Review Inside Back Flap 20 points Shows the 5 stars rating clearly. Well-written review (paragraph form). Contains three reasons for like or dislike of book. 15 Shows the 5 stars rating clearly. Contains 3 reasons for like or dislike of book. Not written in paragraph form. 10 5 star rating is missing and has only two reasons for like or dislike of book. 5 Missing 5 star rating and only one reason for dislike or like of book. 0 No review. Vocabulary Back cover 30 points Correct number of words is sited (5 words). Story sentence is written and page number documented. Correct definition from dictionary. 22 Correct number of words is sited but is not done correctly (no sentence, page number, or missing definition).
