Do I need a parent signature on my planner every day?
Yes! Parent signatures are required Monday through Friday. Signatures will
be checked randomly. Students caught without a planner signature will be
benched at recess. In addition, there should be something written in the
planner each day! If you see a blank planner for a day, you know your child
did not follow directions.
What happens if I don't have my work to turn in?
You will be benched for the entire snack recess for every day something is
missing. After several missing assignments, or if a large project has not
been turned in, I reserve the right to bench students during lunch recess as well.
Can I turn in any late work?
Late work will be accepted, however you will not get full credit for the
assignment. For example, a perfect paper may only receive a grade of "2"
simply because it was not completed on time. Please make sure your work is
ready to turn in when it is due. Also, excessively late work may only receive
a "1" grade... it's better than a zero though.
Can I call home if I forget my work?
Sorry, but under most circumstances I do not allow calls home. You are
responsible for bringing your work to school each morning. You can turn it in
the next day, but it will be late and you will be benched during snack recess.
What do I do if I am absent?
You will be given your assignments when you return. You'll have one week to
turn it in for full credit.
What if I'm going to miss school for a week or more?
If a parent notifies me at least 3 days in advance of a long absence, I will
get together an independent study packet to be completed. A parent will also
need to fill out and sign an INDEPENDENT STUDY FORM in the office. If the
completed packet is turned in the day you return, you will get credit for
being in class on those days.
Why do I have to pay for field trips?
Our school or school district does not fund field trips or buses. We collect
money at the beginning of the year, and decide which field trips we can afford
to go on based on the funds we receive. We do the best we can to do as many
fun things as we can.
How much do I have to read each day?
20-30 minutes or more each day
