Personal Information
Welcome to my site. I am currently a 1st grade teacher at Willow Grove. I have been married for over
25 years and have two kids in college. In March of 2010, I also became a foster parent for my 3 1/2
year old niece.
One of my favorite things to do is to go running. I have been a runner since high school. I
have participated in many 10K and 5K races. In 2009, I completed a marathon
and raised money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. It was one of the
most rewarding experiences that I've had. In 2010 I ran a 1/2 marathon with my daughter which was
really special for both of us. I also like to do yoga and pilates.
In addition to running, I enjoy taking pictures and videos. I am also a dog lover! My dog, Hailey is
part German short-haired pointer and sharpei. She is super energetic and loves to go on walks,
hikes, and runs.
Professional Background
I obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Teaching with Technology in the Classroom as my special field. I also
received my Masters of Education in Reading Instruction.
I have been teaching since 2000 and I still love it! I have a broad range of experience in the primary
grades. I have taught 1st, 1/2 multiage, 2nd, 3rd, and 2/3 multiage. I have also looped with 2nd
graders up to 3rd grade.
At Willow Grove, I have served as the Facilitator for the Technology Team. While in this capacity, I
was fortunate to receive a grant that provided headphones for our entire computer lab! For two
years, I have served as the 1st grade professional learning community team facilitator.
Prior to Willow Grove, I taught at Adobe Bluffs for many years. I was voted Teacher of the Year for
Adobe Bluffs in the 2003-2004 school year. I spent 4 years as the School Site Council Coordinator,
working with the school budget and resource allocation, (back when there were funds available). I
was one of the lead writers for the Adobe Bluffs California Distinguished Schools application, which
was granted to the school. I worked for 3 years on the Professional Development team, helping
coordinate professional growth days for Adobe Bluffs teachers. I have worked on several
implementation teams for things like electronic report cards and the implementation of MAP Testing.
I also received a grant from KSWB.
Before I began teaching, I worked in manufacturing companies (mostly
biotech). I earned a Certificate of Completion in Industrial Engineering. In the manufacturing industry
I was a buyer, a planner, and a materials supervisor over a 13 year timespan.
