Students will need the following materials each day:
1 Large 3 ring binder for LA assignments
1 spiral notebook for Social Studies assignments ( additional notebooks will be needed throughout
the
year)
1 Spiral notebook for Language Arts assignments.
Several black or blue pens
#2 Pencils
Binder Paper
Creekside Binder Reminder
Colored pencils
Colored markers
Glue
Scissors
Highlighters
Our class will be keeping a Language Arts Notebook. You will be expected to keep your work in
chronological order. Every assignment should have proper heading with date and title of assignment.
This notebook will be reviewed at end of quarter and points will be awarded. Other Language Arts
assignments will be kept in your 3-ring binder.
You will also be responsible for keeping a Social Studies Notebook. We will be studying Ancient
Civilizations and each culture will be recorded in your notebook. We'll begin each unit with a cover
page
and Table of Contents. You'll need your SS notebook daily.
Absences
The Absence file is up on the front table. All handouts are filed by day of week. Please check to make
sure you submit all your missed work. Talk to your classmates and verify all assigned work. Also
check
our website and review assigned homework. Please remember to mark these assignments with
ABSENT on top of the page so I'll know why it wasn't submitted on time.
Homework
We'll have homework Monday through Thursday. Weekend homework is rare but sometimes weekend
assignments will be given and due on Monday.

Reading Logs
You will be required to read 30 minutes per day. You'll have SSR at school but then you'll also need to
read in the evening. You'll be recording your book title, number of minutes read and pages read.
Your
parents will be signing off on this activity.
