After completing the outline please write your first paragraph while using your outline. Your
completed outline will be due on Wednesday along with your typed first paragraph.

Persuasive Essay
To produce an effective piece of persuasive writing, students must know how to take a stand or side
and explain their decision for choosing on "side" over another. In order to develop any sort of
persuasive argument you need a topic that is arguable and defendable. Students need to identify
specific claims, or reasons. that justify their stand on a topic, and be able to provide sound evidence
for these claims. Using their claims and corresponding evidence, students should be able to create a
structured outline that organizes their information into an orderly paragraph and /or essay format.
Good luck. Looking forward to hearing your persuasive statements tomorrow. Please remember to
type your first paragraph and bring your completed outline.

Wednesday
Today we began your Persuasive essay or letter to your parents. You worked on your outline and your
beginning paragraph. The most difficult challenge was your topic. Now just follow the first two
columns on your graphic organizer sheet. Write, edit and type your first two paragraphs using what
we talked about today. Have it ready to publish tomorrow. Good Luck!
