Tonight the students need to type up the final copy of the last poem, Limerick. Some students still
need
to compose at least two at home tonight and then get me to OK it in class tomorrow. Those students
can get a one night extension and type up their final copy Wednesday night for homework. the entire
project is due on Friday and will be graded as a test (the most heavily weighted category). You may
want to take a look at your child's work before s/he turns it in.

Tomorrow is the pretest for our last spelling list of the year. (See words above)

WEDNESDAY, MAY 23, 2012
The students who didn't type up the final copy of their limerick last night need to do that tonight. By
tomorrow all 10 final copies should be turned in. I will have each child assemble all their work into a
booklet and resubmit it to me either tomorrow or by Friday. I will be grading these over the next few
weeks and return these masterpieces to your child before school lets out.

You may want to ask your child how s/he did on our pretest today. It should be in the spelling
section
of the binder. If it's where it should be, praise him/her for being organized!!

THURSDAY, MAY 24, 2012
Today in class I gave your child the back page to the poetry booklet that is due on Friday. I provided
each student with a cover, a table of contents, and the back cover for this project. S/he just needed
to provide the poetry. I had to have a talk with the students today about plagiarism. It seems that
some students used the internet to help them with their Limerick, and then just decided to use the
ones found there. I explained that this is not only wrong, but illegal. I told the class that if I found
out that a student used someone else's work, I would assign an "F" to the project. I expect parents to
support me here.

I passed out a review for the final today. We went over a few questions together and will continue
tomorrow. This should be found in the "Reading" section of the binder. If your child knows all/most
of these things, s/he will probably do fine on our final. The final will be next Thursday or Friday.
