I earned a degree in English with an emphasis in Creative Writing from Long
Beach State University. Then, I went on to complete my Single Subject
Teaching Credential in English with an emphasis in Cultural and Linguistic
Diversity from Long Beach State as well. I started teaching at Los Amigos
High School in the 2001-2002 school year and continued teaching ELD and
English 1P and 2P there for 1 1/2 years. When my husband, my daughter, and I
decided to move to San Diego County, I decided to find a position closer to
home.
I found great enjoyment teaching at Escondido High School for 2 1/2 years. I
was able to take on the leadership position of sophomore-level English lead
teacher and to meet many wonderful educators who helped me perfect my craft.
We moved back home - to Huntington Beach - after my second daughter was
born. I was even lucky enough to be able to come "home" to Los Amigos - where
I started my career! I started back at Los in September 2005 and I have been
here ever since.
I absolutely love teaching!
I look forward to going to work every day!
My professional mantra is: "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single
step" (Chinese Proverb).
I'd like my students to learn to set long-term goals and to have the patience and perserverance to see
them through. I aspire to teach my students that keeping this mantra close to heart at all times is a
lifetime skill that translates into all aspects of education and adulthood.
