WELCOME TO THE STORYTIME LINK!!
This year Storytime has been moved to the Wednesday schedule beginning 9/7. We will be meeting each Wednesday (following the Enrichment classes calendar) from 12:00pm-12:45pm in room F. As always, no sign ups are required and everyone is welcome to attend! The first half of the class will be devoted to learning about selected authors/illustrators and then reading some of their books. The second half of the class will be reserved for Share time by the students. Students can sign up a week in advance to reserve a spot to "show and tell" with the group. This is a great opportunity for students to speak in front of a group of their peers. Hope to see you there!
9/7/11: We started off the 2011-2012 Storytime with one of my favorite author/illustrators--David Shannon! We read two of his stories and then had time to talk about the Share sign-ups. I haven't figured out how to do online sign-ups for Share so i will make sure to bring a sign-up sheet to Storytime so students can sign up for the following week.
Storytime Topics:
Last spring we had fun with Maurice Sendak's classic book, Where the Wild Things Are. Before that, we focused on Felicia Bond and enjoyed some stories by Ron and Judy Barrett. In the past, we've read and enjoyed math stories, some beloved classics, some fun, rhyming stories, and books by our featured authors/illustrators--all found in our own Classroom B/C library. The students should be inspired to take a few minutes whenever they visit Classroom B/C to browse our wonderful and growing library.
3/5/10: Happy Birthday Theodor Seuss Geisel! Dr. Suess was born on March 2, 1904. In Storytime, we celebrated his birthday by reading some favorite Dr. Suess books and learning a little bit about him.
Dr Suess:
Theodor Seuss Geisel (March 2, 1904 – September 24, 1991) was an American writer and cartoonist most widely known for his children's books written under the pen name Dr. Seuss. He published over 60 children's books, which were often characterized by imaginative characters, rhyme, and frequent use of trisyllabic meter. His most celebrated books include the bestselling Green Eggs and Ham, The Cat in the Hat, and One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish. Numerous adaptations of his work have been created, including eleven television specials, three feature films, and a Broadway musical. Here are some fun websites!

She has illustrated numerous children's books and written many of her own, including Tumble Bumble and Poinsettia and Her Family.
