©¡©¡Danxia Mountain is located in Renhua county, which is the intersection of Hunan, Jiangxi and Guangdong province, 45kilometeres from Shaoguan City. Danxia is a nationally preserved scenic spot, and national top-level tourist zone. As a tour resort of Guangdong province, Danxia is the most well-known one among the 4 mountains within that province. |

It is a national nature preservation zone of geology and physiognomy and it is praised as the ¡°red rock park of China¡±.
©¡©¡The maintain stretches out for 280 square kilometers, looks like endless rosy clouds; therefore it is called DX (in Chinese xia means the rays of evening sunlight). It consists of red sandy rocks, and it is famous for its red cliffs. In the field of geology, Danxia is used as a geological term for the physiognomy similar to it. Danxia has become the birthplace of the term ¡°Danxia physiognomy¡± and the typical representative of the same kind of mountains.
©¡©¡In the Danxia scenic zone, you may find about 680 naturally developed unique stones that peaks, are in the shape of walls. Pillars and bridges. The peaks look like stone forests, dense or sparse, tall or short, strew at random. No matter big or small, all the stones have masculine power. The inversely suspended red cliffs and miraculously shaped figures make you believe that they must be created by the quiet gorge and valley valley claded in the verdure bring you back to Xanadu. The Jinjiang river flows through the Danxia tour zone from the north to the south drifting a long the river, you would be infatuated by the rustling of bamboo leaves and the indescribable tend ness of oriental scenery DX endowed with heavenly beauty is the gift of mother nature. |
Shaoguan City is located in the north of Guangdong,China,
know as Yuebei with Jiangxi in the east and Hunan in the north .the Beijing-Guangzhou railway running through north and south,the city has jurisdiction over 3 districts of Beijiang,Wujiang and Zhenjiang and 8 counties of Wujiang,Renhua,Shixing,Nanxiong,Ruyuan,Wengyuan,Xinfeng. Shaoguan has a long history, with peculiar landscape and rich tourist resources.Now the points of interest open to the outside world include Mt.Danxia, a national scenic resort; 9 torrents and 18 shoals of Wujiang,the first river-rafting tourist resort in China;the Bibei Yao village where one can have an experience of the lifestyle and customs of the Yao people;

Nanhua Temple, a renowned temple in the country and the Da Jiao Temple in Yunmen Hill,the Bie Chuan Temple at Mt. Danxia; the lion Cave where the skull of the world-known "Maba Man" was excavated; the provincial scenic spot Golden Rooster Peak;the Ancient Buddha Cave,the underground karst wonder;hunting center,etc. Shaoguan has become one of the hot lines of tourism in Guangdong.
Transport facilities in Shaoguan are convenient,All north-bound trains from Guangzhou to other places of the country pass through here, and highway from Shaoguan to other places in all directions.
As a major city of northern Guangdong, Shaoguan has a strong industrial force. The Shaoguan Iron and Steel Plant, the Shaoguan Smelting Plant, the Shaoguan Excavator Plant, the Fankou Lead and Zinc Mine, and the Quren Coal Mine are all backbone industrial enterprises in the city. It has also formed an industrial system, with iron and steel, coal mining, electric power,machinery, electronics, textiles, chemistry, building materials, foodstuffs and non-ferrous metal smelting as its main industries. Its strong economic force has accelerated the economic development of the city, and Shaoguan is listed as one of the top 50 Chinese cities in terms of comprehensive economic strength.
Shaoguan is also an important transportation pivot. It has always been a key land transportation point between northern China, the Yangtze River Delta and southern China. During the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties, the imperial government established waterway and land customs. At present, the major transportation routes linking northern and southern China,including the Beijing-Guangzhou Railway, the Beijing-Zhuhai Expressway and Highway No. 106 and No. 323 all pass through Shaoguan. Trains from Shaoguan Railway Station go to major Chinese cities, and it is the starting point for the seven routes to Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Shantou, Foshan and many others.
There are numerous mountains and hills in Shaoguan, and the local people have used their resources to explore the potential for developing agriculture. They have planted large areas of rosin, moso bamboo, ginkgo, mushrooms, and tea-oil trees on the mountains, and raise goats, ostriches and cattle to develop animal husbandry and increase their income. The city has developed famous products such as flue-cured tobacco, rice, bamboo products, dried salted duck, tea and dried sweet potato, all of which enjoy a good reputation on the domestic and foreign markets.
Shaoguan's long history and complex geology has left it an abundance of historical and natural sites. The most well known natural view is Danxia Mountain, one of the four famous mountains of Guangdong, distinctive for its steep stone walls, peaks and pillars. In 2000, Danxia Mountain was designated one of the first group of National 4A Standard Scenic Areas of China. In southeast Shaoguan there is an old temple, the Nanhua Temple, which is acknowledged as the ancestral home of Zen, a Chinese branch of Buddhism. In 1983, the Nanhua Temple was designated a key national preserved cultural unit. Shaoguan's rich tourism resources have made it a popular tourist destination in Guangdong, and in 2000, it received 3.06 million visitors, realizing an income of 1.2 billion yuan.
