| 10/14/08 - I need 54 milk/ chocolate milk or orange juice cartons from lunch
time. You would need to come collect them and then take them home anr rinse
them out. I will also need the boxes cut. We are going to use them to make
cars for our simple machines unit.
10/14/08 - Take home project. Our simple machines unit is coming up, and I
need someone to fill 54 dixie cups with rice and tape them so the rice does
not come out. I have all the materials, and would want the project
completed after Thanksgiving break.
9/25/08 - WEEKLY VOLUNTEER NEEDED, TAKE HOME PROJECT - The Time for Kids
magazine we order come bundled together. It is time consuming for me to
take them apart each week and then put the students names on them with a
sharpie. It is an easy project but just takes 10 min. each week. I can
send them home as soon as I get them, and then would need them back within
two days so they are not out of date when the students read them. Let me
know if you are interested.
9/17/08 - October Lucky book orders due Sept 25th.
9/8/08 - Second Graders will enjoy a day in the West on Thursday, September
11. Second graders need to bring a box lunch and may dress in western or
pioneer
clothing.
9/4/08 - Next week we start NWEA testing. This is the first year for these
kiddos. This test is taken in the computer lab and will be over reading,
language arts, and math. This will effect our math schedule for the next 2
weeks, therefore there will be little to no homework at that time.
9/4/08 - We are still in need of help for Westward expansion day. We need
more parent volunteers. Please let us know if you will be able to help.
9/4/08 - thanks, I got all of the at home projects filled at this time.
Thanks for your help.
8/21/08 - WESTWARD EXPANSION DAY- This is coming up so fast. Please look
for info in Thurday folders and mark your calendars for Thursday September
11th. We will need volunteers.
8/20/08 - VOLUNTEER NEEDED/ AT HOME PROJECT If you would like some
volunteer hours be able to do them at home, let me know.
8/20/08 - Morning Recess- In second grade we do not have a snack tub, but
each child is to bring their own small, healthy snack that can be eaten in
a couple of minutes. It will be eaten at our morning recess which is at
9:25 am. Thank you for your help with this. We think this gives you as
parents the ability to send a snack tha tyou want your child to eat.
8/20/08 - SPOW - Special Panther of the week - In second grade we celebrate
each student as the Special Panther of the Week (SPOW) sometime during the
year. See attached list for exact dates.
- The SPOW will bring home a small bulletin board the Friday before
their special week which may be decorated with pictures of the student (Mrs.
Young especially likes baby pictures of the student and pictures of the
student¡¦s family), awards, interests and whatever else the student may wish
to share with the class.
- We usually share the board on Tuesdays of the student¡¦s SPOW week.
The SPOW may also bring in a pet to share. If it is a small furless pet in
a cage or container, it may stay all day. Larger or furry pets will be
shared outside, hopefully during recess (9:25 or 12:15¡Xthere are less
people
out in am). Arrangements need to be made ahead of time with Mrs. Young.
- The SPOW will get to sit in the SPOW chair all week during DEAR and
other reading times.
- When students with summer birthdays have their SPOW week, we will
also celebrate their birthday during that week, you may choose a day that
week that is convenient for you if you want to bring a treat¡Xjust let me
know.
- If your student¡¦s birthday is on a school day, we will celebrate
that day. If it is on a weekend or holiday, we will celebrate whichever day
is closer or more convenient for you.
- Students may bring in a birthday treat to share with the class on
their birthday or assigned celebration day. Please send napkins and plates
if needed. We will eat the birthday treat after specials (2:25) in the
afternoon (outside as long as the weather is good) after we celebrate.
