Arapahoe House

Dear Parents,

Every year we do our Second Grade Service Learning Project by helping
families from Arapahoe House. This is an organization in the Denver metro
area that provides homes for mothers who are trying to get off drugs. These
moms are allowed to keep their children with them while they live at
Arapahoe House and go to classes to learn how to begin a new life. The
families we will help have graduated from Arapahoe House but are in their
half way program and have set up housekeeping on their own under
supervision. Please open your hearts to these courageous women who cannot
provide Christmas for their own children.

The wish lists of these families will be coming home in Thursday folders
this week so that you can shop for them during the holiday sales. Please
sign up for the gifts you wish to purchase by signing up on the lists
outside the classrooms or email your homeroom teacher. There will be an
updated list available on the class sites that you can check to see which
gifts have been purchased.
Instructions for sending the gifts to school are included on the wish lists.

Thanks so much,

These women (and our first father ever) are in the halfway program at Arapahoe House and are often forgotten at Christmas. They are trying to live on their own, but continue to attend classes and programs at the Arapahoe House as a support system. The Arapahoe House is so grateful for our willingness to share with others.

***If you wish, you may donate cash toward the purchase of a certain item and we will do the shopping or join with several parents to buy a more expensive item.

Gifts need to be brought to school unwrapped, but boxed and tagged with the name and Client # by Wednesday, December 9th so our students can wrap them on Friday, December 11th. We also could use some parent volunteers to help that morning with the wrapping. Just let your homeroom teacher know if you can help – 8:30-9:30 am). Donations of wrapping paper, boxes, gift tags and clear tape would also be appreciated. Thanks so much!

**Please email your homeroom teacher with your gift choice or sign up on the list by the classroom door or return this list to school.
