This week we will focus on capitalization of places in grammar. Our focus
on paragraph writing will be responding to non fiction. This will include
our opinion of what we have read nad finding details that support our
opinion.
Nov. 10
This week we will focus on responding to fiction focusing on the setting or
plot in an expository paragraph. Our grammar focus will be on commas in
dialogue and after transition words.
Nov 3
This week we will complete our expository writing of responding to fiction
and begin our expository paragraph on summaries. Our grammar focus this
week will be on commas and their use in creating a pause in a sentence and
creating a list of items.
Oct 27
This week we will be working on expository writing of responding to fiction
and working with quotation marks in grammar.
Oct 13
This week we will take an end of unit assessment in grammar and spelling.
We will also create a fall cinquain poem to review parts of speech; nouns,
adjectives, and verbs.
Oct 6
This week we will publish our autobiographies creating a final copy,
continue to work on elaborating sentences, and reviewing our grammar
concepts: nouns, pronouns, verbs, verb phrases, and sentence types.
Sept 29
This week we will focus on editing our autobiographies, begin work on a fall
cinquain, and work on the four types of sentences; interrogative,
declarative, exclamatory, and imperative.
Sept 22
This week we will focus on finalizing our revisions and begin the editing
process of a paragraph. We will also finish verb phrases and review the
four types of sentences: interrogative, declarative, exclamatory, and
imperative.
Sept 15
This week we will focus on the revising process of writing using our
autobiography rough drafts and emphasize verbs and verb phrases in grammar.
Sept 8
This week we will continue writing elaborate sentences in the forms of a
question and declarative sentence. We will also explore verbs in grammar.
We will be taking our first round of NWEA tests this week in and Language
Usage.
Sept 2
This week we will be focusing on our final steps in prewrting involving
topic sentences. We are also discussing the various traits that make up our
writing, and four different types of writing that we will be doing in third
grade. (Writing to inform, persuade, entertain, and explain). Our focus in
grammar will be finishing with proper nouns and introducing pronouns.
Aug 25
This week we will be focusing on distinguishing the difference between
common and proper nouns as well as organizing our ideas into number notes.
Aug 18
This week we will be focusing on nouns and elaborating sentences.
