Science

November 2nd - November 6th

This week we will be reviewing the parts of the human eye and their functions.
Students will be ASSESSED on this information on Wednesday, NOVEMBER 4th.  We 
will review extensively in class, and students will use 2-column notes and a 
diagram generated during our last unit as study guides.  

Then, we will continue to explore the properties of Light.  Students will 
participate in several hands-on science stations, and fill out two-column 
notes.  

MODEL PROJECTS are due Wednesday, November 11th. Students will be creating a 
model of EITHER the eye, ear or brain and writing a paragraph describing the 
parts and functions of their model.

DUE TO THE DISRUPTED SCHEDULE, BOTH THE MODEL AND THE PARAGRAPHS will need to 
be created AT HOME. Detailed instructions have come home with each students, 
and information is on my Science Documents web page under "Model Project 
Directions."




October 26th - October 30th

This week we will be reviewing the parts of the human eye and their functions.

REMINDER: Students will have an assessment covering the parts of the ear and 
their functions on Tueday, 10/13.  They have two-column notes and a 
diagram to use as a study guide.

Model Projects are due WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 14TH.  Models are to be created at 
home.  Students are making good progress on their paragraphs in class.



October 5th - October 9th

This week we will be exploring the properties of Sound and Light.  Students

REMINDER: Students will have an assessment covering the parts of the eye and 
their functions THIS TUESDAY, October 6th.  They will have a quiz on the 
parts of the ear and their functions on Tuesday, October 13th.  They have two-
column notes and a diagram to use as a study guide.

Model Projects are due Wednesday, October 14th.  I know that this may seem 
overwhelming, but please remember that we are reviewing extensively in 
class.  Also, have your child break it down into smaller parts and review a 
little bit each night.

This week student will learn about the parts of the human ear and their 
functions.  Students will not be assessed on this information 
until our next unit, when we learn about light and sound.




September 14th - September 18th - Nelson Homeroom 

This week we will be completing our study of the Brain and Nervous System.  
Students will have an assessment covering this information on Thursday, 
9/17.  On Tuesday will begin to learn about the parts of the human eye and 
ear and their functions.  Students will not be assessed on this information 
until our next unit, when we learn about light and sound.


September 8th - September 11th - Nelson Homeroom 

This week we begin to study the Nervous System.  Students will be learning 
about the Central and Peripheral Nervous System, the parts of the brain and 
what they are responsible for.  You will find helpful information under 
the "Science Documents" page under "Brain Information and Diagram."


August 24th - 28th

This week we will be completing our study of the Brain and Nervous System.  
Students will have an assessment covering this information on Friday, 
8/28.  On Thursday will begin to learn about the parts of the human eye and 
ear and their functions.  Students will not be assessed on this information 
until our next unit, when we learn about light and sound.

August 17th - August 21st

This week we begin to study the Nervous System.  Students will be learning
