What days will my child have homework from you?

Good question! I will be sending home homework from Monday
through Thursday. I would still like your child to read over the
weekend, even though it is NOT formal homework. This will help
build fluency and endurance.

Why does the homework sheet need to be signed each night?

I need a signature each night so that I know that your child did
their homework and you supervised their progress. Also the
homework sheet allows you the opportunity to make comments,
suggestions, or ask questions. In the section, WHAT DID YOU DO?,
please tell me what you worked on that day.

Can I ever come to observe my child in your class?

Absolutely! I love to have parents see their child work in my
classroom. Just let me know when you would like to come.

What are AR books?

AR books are accelerated reading books that are grade leveled.
The books match your child's reading level so that he/she will be
successful reading this book. After your child finishes the
book, he/she will take a computer comprehension test. This test
reveals the level of comprehension for that book. You can always
request an AR report.

How important is summer reading?

Summer reading ensures that your child will be ready for the next
grade and all of challenges of that grade. If your child returns
in August and isn't "ready" to begin all the academic activities,
he/she will be already behind and trying to catch-up. The best
case scenerio is your child is rested and ready to learn and
prepared to begin his school year successfully.
