| WHISL for week of 14-18 April
Monday: Conclude ME presentations.
Work on 15-20 Passages (minimum of five sentences each)with commentary from
your Choice Book. DUE: Tuesday, 15 April 2008.
FORMAT: Passage with page number affixed to the top of the paper. Use MLA
format to indicate page number: "Lklsdfo, aeeiueurojlm. fpdofpffm'oipo"(16).
COMMENTARY needs to contain SPECIFIC details and should be written in
complete sentences. EACH COMMENTARY should include IYOW: (a)a summary of the
passage and who is speaking or acting or the event/idea referenced in the
passage; (b)how the passage relates SPECIFICALLY to the character, events,
ideas, actions, thoughts occurring in the section of the CB you took it
from; (c)what SPECIFICALLY the passage says or implies about change(s)in the
story-line, actions, motivations, or in the life of the character(s); (d)why
you chose that particular passage in relation to the character, events,
ideas, actions in your Choice Book; (e)questions the particular passage
raised in your mind as you were reading.
Tuesday: DWA--60 Minutes. Bring a pen or two to class. You may work on
Character Log when you are finished.
Wednesday:
Choice Book Character Log that tracks the three A's--appearance, attitudes,
actions of at least two or three of the most significant characters. Include
commentary on how those three A's function in relation to the story line,
conflict(s), resolution or not, and changes in the characters. Character Log
is DUE: Wednesday, 16 April for CREDIT.
Thursday:
Final in-class writing for CB and ME. Bring pens and paper!
Friday: What is Africa? HO Weep Not Child.
