The focus of this ensemble will be to improve
upon the group's reading and performance skills, through a variety of
literature. All students are expected to practice and perform each of the
styles of music introduced, including but not limited to classic, folk, jazz,
and fiddling. Students will be expected to memorize some pieces, as well as
scales. This group will be working on shifting and beginning vibrato
exercises. The text for this class is Essential
Elements 2000, beginning with level 2
first semester, accompanied by various scores suitable to the ensembles
overall skill level.
All students need rosin and a pencil on their stands. Each
student will recieve a music folder with their parts; this music must be
returned in good condition at the appropriate times. Trott
Position Pieces for violin or viola; Melodious
Double Stops for violin, viola, or cello; and Thumb
Positions for cello are highly recommended.
