The
Steamboat
Springs
Middle School
science classes spend time each year studying tree ecology. We have learned
the importance of trees, and the various roles they play on our ecosystem. In
1993, we held our first tree sale. The money we raised bought the climbing
wall at the middle school. The sale has continued each year, and we now sell
an average of 1000 trees per year. We have used the money to pay for many
things including donations to the local fire department, Yampatika, and
Advocates. This program was recognized by the state and the Colorado Tree
Coalition for its excellence. In 2003, the program won the "Commutitree
Award."
Our tree sale occurs each year in
May. We sell nursery grown Spruce (height 4 to 10 feet), Cottonless
Cottonwoods (6 to 16 feet),
Aspen
(6 to 12 feet), Lilac Bushes, and more. Our prices are excellent and our
suppliers are top notch.
