Internet 4 Classrooms: Third Grade Skill Builders

Just like printing, cursive writing is typically not presented in
alphabetical order. The letters are introduced in groups that are
formed in a similar manner. The worksheets build on one another
so you'll want to begin with the letter a and add letters in the
order listed. It is important to build when it comes to
handwriting as the key difference between cursive writing and
printing is that the letters flow together (connect).

Learning about punctuation can be a lot of fun with Punctuation
Paintball! In this arcade-style game, your students complete
sentences by launching punctuation paintballs at them. But the
paintballs have to hit the right spots in the sentence!
Otherwise, paint splatters all over the sentence cards! The
students earn points by completing a specific number of sentences
during each timed round. They'll get extra points for any time
left at the end of a round, so they want to work fast! Plus,
there's a little bonus game at the end of each round!

Punctuation Paintball

A great word building game, sort of like a one-player scrabble.
The object of the game is to make as many words as you can out of
the letters provided, in a limited amount of time. You can click
on letters, or use the keyboard. If you correctly spell the
longest possible word, you are rewarded with a chance to play
again, and continue adding to your score.

Mumbo Jumbo

This set of activities is like an old-fashioned Spelling Bee.
Contestants - that's you! - in grades 1-8 will listen to three
stories, one at a time, and then spell words from each story.
Students in high school will listen to separate sentences and
then spell the words from each sentence. If you get stumped, you
can click to hear a word again, as many times as you need to. If
you're in grade three or higher, you can ask for a definition
too. Since words often make more sense when they are attached to
an idea, all the words in the story or sentences are in context.
Review the words, hear the audio, and SPELL the missing words.
Make sure to check your SPELLING carefully, since your results
will be calculated at the end.
