What are the homework expectations for first graders?

Every day that first grade has learning centers, a guided reading book
will come home in the brown envelope to be read by your child to a
resident reader and signed off in the last column.
Wednesdays a math related practice page will come home also.

How are birthdays recognized?

Most parents send in a cookie or cupcake for classmates to celebrate
this special day in their child's life. This is optional and know that food
allergies prevent some students from partaking of unlabeled baked goods. Mrs.
Tirrell hands out a birthday pencil and crown to the celebrant and their name
is read on the morning announcements.

How may parents volunteer?

There are several ways for parents to help out in first grade.
1. Field trip chaperones
2. Assisting the room parent with the three special occasions we
celebrate in school: The last day of school in December, Valentine's
Day, and the last day of the school year in June.
