Mrs. Birch studied music at the University of Colorado, Boulder where she
studied the pipe organ, harpsichord, flute, voice, conducting, and piano.
She is a member of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), American
Guild of Organists(AGO), Connecticut & National Music Education Associations
(CMEA & MENC). She has a Master of Education; Music, and is certified Level 1
in the Orff-Schulwerk method. Orff-Schulwerk is the founding organization
which promotes the use of the movement, singing, and instruments in developing
the whole musician.
Mrs. Birch is Music Director at the First Presbyterian Church in Fairfield where she is organist,
directs the youth and adult choirs,and handbell ensemble.
She lives with her husband, 2 teenage children, dog Waldo & cats Becky & Tom.
She is very happy to be at Calf Pen Meadow!
All students will learn and improve their musical abilities through practice.
Students will listen critically and with their imaginations to a wide variety of music.
We will explore sound and create music.
Students will play an instrument and read music notation. (recorder)
We will travel through time to learn of other places, cultures, & traditions without ever leaving room 20.
