How are students selected for reading intervention?

From the moment students enter Calf Pen Meadow School, we want them to succeed
in all they do. All teachers monitor students carefully. If there is any
indication that a student is not meeting normal expectations for a class, we
take a closer look at that student. Aside from district assessments given by
the classroom teacher, and Mastery Tests required by the state of Connecticut,
Reading Consultants are able to use a variety of tests to examine student
skills.

Is Phonemic Awareness the same as Phonics?

No. Phonemic Awareness refers to the sounds. Phonics is the sounds
associated with letters of the alphabet.
