I began my teaching career in Southington, CT. I taught in the special
education department at Southington High School for sixteen years. I helped
to pioneer a program for students with severe emotional disturbance (SED)
called EASE (Emotional, Academic, Social Education).
After moving to the shoreline area I found the need to work closer to my
family and accepted a job at Mount Saint John School in Deep River, CT.
Mount Saint John is a private residential facility for court adjudicated
boys ages 11-17. I taught for four years at MSJ, but had the desire to
get back into public education.
The 2008-09 school year will be my fourth with Clinton Public Schools. I
am excited to be back in the Alt. Ed. program with Mrs. Nadeau and Mr.
Marszalek. I hope we will all have have a productive, successful, and fun
school year. I look forward to reuniting with students from last year and to
meeting all of the new students entering the program this year! Let's work
together to make this year great!
Mrs. Butkus :-)
