Lab report format

Week one lab-  Intro to Microscope-  fixed slides, wet-mount slides, pond scum
study.
week two- Fish Lab
week three- measuring enzyme activity
week four- foods lab



General Lab Report Format


The following format should be followed for all lab reports.  All lab 
reports must be typed, double space, 12 font, Times New Roman font. 

Title- 5pts.  The title should be a few words that describe the main theme 
of the lab     

Statement of the problem:5pts  "Does concentration gradient effect Rate of 
Diffusion"    

Backgound Research-20 pts  Using your class notes, websites, textbook, 
library books/magazines, etc.  discuss what is known about the different 
aspects of the lab you are doing or have done.   
a Bibliography must be included at the end of the lab report.  The source of 
your information must be properly cited

Hypothesis- 10pts.  Based of the background research, make a statement that 
predicts the outcome of the lab    
 
Procedure-10pts  step-by-step procedures that will allow another person to 
replicate your lab and come up with the same results.
 
data collection 10pts.       data table showing the information collected 
from your experiment
 
Analysis- 20 pts.  interpret what your data infers or implies with regard to 
your hypothesis.  It should include the following: 
    -graph
    -discussion of the data
 
Conclusion: 20pts. The following three elements are needed for this section:
   1. Accept or reject your hypothesis and support it with the analysis of 
the data.
    2. Discuss possible sources of error
   3. Suggest possible follow-up experiments
Bibliography should be last page.
