FAQ: Ask the LibrarianIn case you were wondering....
What day does my child visit the library? Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Dooley (K) Draxdorf (K) McManus (k) Allen (K) Coster(K) Casale (2) Welton (2) Hastings (2) Johnson (2) Domroes (2) Shollar (2) Curran (2) Jones (2) Woodard (2) Willaim (2) Shwartz (1) Vicare (1) Schlosser (1) Wright (1) Quinlan(1) Dooley-PM Draxdorf-PM McManus-PM Allen-PM Coster-PM Brown (1) Casciolo (1) Florio (1) Borges (1) Biasetti (1) How many books can my child check out? Kindergarten and first grader students generally choose two books each week. Occasionally a child will ask to select a third book and I do allow them to have that special treat! Second graders choose two or three books each week. Magazines also circulate to second grade students as well. Can I borrow books from the school library/media center? Yes! Please visit the school library and I will create a parent account and you will be able to check out books. It will take only a minute to get you started so stop in anytime- before, during or after school! What happens if my child loses a book? When a child forgets to bring back their library books, I usually give a printout of what books were borrowed. This printout is a courtesy reminder- the child can keep the books and return them on their next visit. If you believe the books have been returned to school, send me a note or call so that we can look immediately in the library or classroom for the missing books. If we determine the books are not in the school library or the child's classroom and you have thoroughly searched at home, then we ask that you pay the replacement cost of the book. If you do find the book before the end of the school year, you will obtain a full refund. If a book gets damaged (accidents happen sometimes),I ask that you kindly pay the replacement cost so that I can purchase a new copy of the book. Aways call, email me or stop in the library, if you have any concerns. Can I donate books to the library? Yes! I would first encourage you to join the Adopt-A-Book program. This program allow extra funding so that the collection can grow to support both the students' reading interests and enhance the curriculum. If you have slightly used books that you would like to donate, my policy is that I will select books that are appropriate for the library and then give the remainder of the donations to classroom teachers. Can I volunteer in the library? Your children love having you experience their school day. Moms, Dads, grandparents and older siblings(high school/college) are welcome to come anytime and assist in the library. Contact me and we can set up a time for your visit or just stop in anytime you are available and I can put you right to work! |
