"Books to the ceiling,
Books to the sky,
My pile of books is a mile high.
How I love them! How I need them!
I'll have a long beard by the time I read them."
Arnold Lobel
Just visit my home and you will see that my reading pile is getting high.
I certainly hope I don't grow a beard!
I sure do love children and books and I am so pleased to be able to serve the
students and staff at ConsolidatedSchool in New Fairfield, Ct. The ability
to share my love of literature and expertise in information literacy with
primary school aged children is a delight. Please visit the school library
media center and introduce yourself and I will be more than happy to provide
you with a library card so that you can expand your pile of books!
Education and Teaching Background:
My desire to enroll in a master's degree program at the University of Rhode
Island in the field of library and information studies was encouraged by two
primary school teachers and inspired by years of utilizing my local public
library. When my children were young, we spent a great deal of time in the
public library and read hundreds and hundreds of books. The teachers my
children were blessed to have in their early elementary years were so
dedicated and committed to teaching that their enthusiam was contagious. I
graduated in 1998 from URI with a MLIS degree and obtained a Pre K- 12 school
librarian certificate.
I was employed as a k-5 media specialist for 10 years in Rhode Island and had
experiences in both public and private schools. I expanded my knowledge by
teaching for three years in the Hillsborough County School Districtthe 9th
largest district in the country) in Tampa, Florida.
I recently earned a National Certification by passing my national boards
through NBPTS. This grants me certification as a media specialist k-12
throughout the entire United States!
