Poem of the Week

 For Valentine's Day

Out of a snow cloud, cold and gray,
Something dropped on St. Valentine's
Day,
Whirling and twirling and soft and light,
Like wee little letters all
dainty and white,
And I guess the sky children were sending down,
This
Valentine straight to the children in town.

Read the poem to yourself, then to three people- you can even call someone on the phone to read the poem to them! I know lots of Grandmas who like to hear our weekly poems!
Then: on a piece of lined paper, write down the rhyming words that you found in the poem, write what the poem is mostly about (main idea), who the author is (sometimes it's anonymous), and what you liked best.

**Finally, draw a picture that illustrates the words of the poem. Don't forget all the important details!**

For an extra challenge: write a word that is new to you, and what you think it means from reading the poem. Then look up the word in a dictionary with an adult. Were you right or wrong on what the word meant?
