*Week of May 21stis Literacy Week-Our theme for Literacy Week this year is CAREERS.The children will be discussing careers in class, and the guest readers will be comprised of members of many different professions. For Vocabulary Day each child will dress as their chosen profession and choose a word associated with it as their word/slogan/idiom to explain. There will be an Art Contest featuring illustrations around their chosen career along with their chosen word(s). Each grade will have a winner of the contest, and prizes will be awarded.

Our end of the year field trip to the beach is on June 12th. We will need as many chaperones to join us on the trip as possible. Please contact a room captain or Ms. Johnson to let us know if you are available to help us that day. We will need drivers, chaperones, chaperones willing to set up at the beach prior to our arrival and chaperones who will bring the extra refreshments and snacks to enjoy at the beach.

In Lieu of individual end of the year teacher gifts please consider making a donation to one of Ms. Johnson's favorite charities:

http://www.cancer.org/
Other great ideas instead of a gift for the end of the year are donation items from the classroom wish list, materials for next year's class (leveled reading books are very much needed) and Thank you letters are especially appreciated.
