Create a map of the setting used in Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby based on the descriptions given in the novel.

  • East Egg (pgs. 4 - 5)

  • Buchanan's house (pgs. 6 - 7)

  • West Egg (pgs. 4 - 5)

  • Gatsby's house (pg. 5)

  • Nick's house (pg. 5)

  • Long Island Sound (pg. 5)

  • Valley of Ashes (pg. 23)

  • T.J. Eckleberg billboard (pg. 23)

  • Railroad tracks and motor road (pg. 23)

  • Wilson's garage/house (pgs. 24 -25)

  • New York (pg. 4, 23)

  • Jordan's aunt's apartment (pg. 19)

  • Tom and Myrtle's apartment (pgs. 28 -29)

Process:

  1. Sketch out a rough draft of map on notebook paper.
  2. Remember your map must be based upon descriptions from novel.
  3. Your map should be drawn on the poster board.  Use any art supplies/ materials that you have at home. 
  4. Be sure that your map is a clear and accurate depiction of the novel, appropriate for hanging up in the classroom.
