Yes. This does sometimes involve compromise on both ends - from the band director and coaches - but many students are involved with both. Communication is key to making this work. Because we do not have regular evening rehearsals (other than Jazz Band once a week) and because we are not a competition marching band, students are able to do both.
Concert band meets 4 times per week during 5th period. The Jazz Ensemble meets the fifth day during 5th period as well as once a week in the evenings. Band is an elective class that students can take as a Level I or a Level II course.
No. However, there are some initial expenses. Students purchase a band polo shirt, marching shoes, gloves, and beret. These items can last a student for all four years in the band.
